SONG Lin graduated from the Dongbei University of Finance and Economics in 2001. Armed with a degree in English (International Business), she started her career as a translator before she went on to work in a funds clearing center in Dalian.

Before long, however, she began to appreciate that she needed to improve her business knowledge in order to realize her ambition of becoming a professional accountant and one day running her own business.

An MBA that could equip Song with both general management and leadership skills as well as provide her with the professional accounting qualifications appeared to be the ideal solution.

After substantial research into worldwide MBA programs, Song finally decided to focus her search on the business schools of Singapore. She saw the numerous MNCs that had set up their Asia Pacific regional hubs and business centers in Singapore and wanted to stay in Asia to build her network while gaining international exposure. Besides, as one of the fastest growing regions Asia provides many exciting career and business opportunities.

After much consideration, Song chose the Nanyang MBA at the Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

"I selected The Nanyang MBA as it is one of the World's Top 100 MBAs with world class faculty. It uses a case-study approach which trains participants to be analytical and to acquire broader perspectives when approaching business opportunities and situations. The program is also known for its student diversity with participants coming from almost 20 different countries and regions, who not only enrich the program with their diverse cultural, intellectual and management perspectives, but also open up excellent networking opportunities," Song commented.

Song also reckons there are good career opportunities in Singapore as foreign investments have grown there steadily over the years.

Soon after graduation, Song was offered a position with PricewaterhouseCoopers as an assurance consultant. Besides a job in a MNC, through the MBA program she has also gained a global network of friends and business contacts. The knowledge she acquired during the program has served her well in her career.

The Nanyang MBA (Accountancy) is recognized by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS) and CPA Australia. Other specializations are available.

It has been ranked in the world's Top 100 Best MBAs by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) in 2004 and 2005.
