Get your MBA in China and save

A totally new twist on taking the MBA in China.

Do it there because it will cost you less.

Yes, yes, there are other great benefits in that you will have expertise in a country which is the fastest growing economy in the world. But the main thrust of the current recruiting push by Carleton University in Canada and Donghua University is that Westerners can come to China to get an MBA and it will cost less.

The pitch is most persuasive.

It states that a  primary goal of the MBA degree is to educate students about advanced ideas and procedures in the business world. In addition, however, the degree is designed to provide the skills necessary for graduates to conduct research about business that will improve the efficiency and competitiveness of organizations.

Who would argue with that?

On average, the MBA program takes two years to complete.

Also true.

Carleton’s International Student Advisory estimates the cost for an international student to be $35,000 for one year, which includes tuition of about $15,000 to $15,500, housing costs of approximately $7,200 to $8,000, university health insurance plan (UHIP) costs of $533, books and supplies of approximately $800 to $1700, and personal expenses of about $2,000. Doing it in China can cut those costs nearly by half.
So then comes the sales pitch:

By offering Carleton’s MBA in China, we provide an opportunity for students to receive a Master’s degree from an internationally recognized Canadian business school more quickly and at a greatly reduced cost.
The program provides up to three months of study in Canada in order to expose students to Canadian education and to Canada’s business environment.
