SIMBA, AMBA accredited program

SHANGHAI International MBA, or SIMBA, was founded in 2000 by Tongji University in cooperation with ENPC MBA Paris.

The program enjoys a high reputation among Sino-Foreign MBA programs. Its foreign partner -- the France-based ENPC -- is one of the most venerable engineering colleges in the world. Its MBA program is ranked among the top 12 in Europe and top four in France. Likewise, Tongji University was one of the first experimental MBA program providers in China.

The solid foundation of both universities has lent authority to the distinctive curriculum character which is based on internationalization, new technology and multiculturalism.

Based on these strengths, last year SIMBA earned accreditation from the prestigious Association of MBA, AMBA.

Located in the center of London, AMBA is one of the three most authoritative accreditation institutions for business and MBA programs in the world. It has a set of strict standards in MBA accreditation developed by its International Accreditation Committee. In fact, SIMBA was the first MBA program in Asia to apply for AMBA accreditation.

The strengths of the SIMBA program are evident in several factors. One is the effectiveness of collaboration at program level between Tongji University School of Economics and Management and the ENPC. By drawing faculty from both sources, a style of teaching and co-faculty appropriate to the needs of Chinese MBA students has been achieved.

Other positive features include excellent students and enthusiastic, committed staff -- both in teaching and support. There is also good access to employer opinions through IFCIM, whose supervisory board acts as an advisory board to SIMBA. In this role it provides advice on matters such as curriculum development and internship opportunities.

The program also includes a good mix of face-to-face teaching, group work and projects. There is plenty of opportunity for interaction and sharing of experience between students. Such teaching blocks provide an opportunity for immersion in a way that can only normally be achieved in full-time programs.

For top executives of foreign enterprises and joint-ventures in Shanghai and the neighboring cities, SIMBA has become the first choice when pursuing MBA education.
