Fudan-Sloan partnership expanding
A DECADE-LONG partnership between Fudan University's business faculty and MIT's Sloan Business School is expanding, officials of two schools said yesterday.

For the last 10 years, the collaboration allowed four teachers at Fudan's school of management to visit Sloan's campus in the United States for five months each year. They would team up with US professors and scholars for joint research and attended classroom sessions with MBA students.

In the expanded collaboration, spanning the next five years, the Chinese teachers will give lectures and interact with students about the Chinese economy and business management cases, university officials said.

"We need our students and faculty to be knowledgeable about China, but not by spending time on air planes. It's a reasonable thing to have it happen," said Richard Schmalensee, visiting dean of MIT Sloan.

MIT also has established partnerships with three other Chinese universities in the last decade - Tsinghua University, Sun Yat-sen University in Guangdong Province and Yunnan University.
