China Based MBAs Ranks Highly by The Financial Times

from: Shanghai Daily

Two Shanghai-based business schools have been listed in the world's top 100 Master of Business Administration programs by British newspaper The Financial Times this year.

The MBA program at China Europe International Business School, an independent school jointly set up by the Shanghai city government and the European Union, took the top position in Asia and the 11th place in the world.

It's the fifth consecutive year that CEIBS has ranked top in Asia.

Antai College of Economics and Management at Jiao Tong University clinched the 41th place in the annual global ranking.

"It's the first time that a business school affiliated to a full-time Chinese university has appeared on the list, which indicates that the university's internationalization strategy has been a great success,'' said Wang Fanghua, dean of Antai.

He added that China's fast-developing economy had created a favorable environment for business schools. The positive impact was reflected by the graduates' employment prospects and pay.

Among the ranking's 20 judging criteria, Antai achieved the top place in the world in terms of salary increase percentage and graduates' employment rate after three months.

Antai's MBA graduates saw their salary rise by 177 percent three years after graduation. Their annual income was an average of US$91,346.

CEIBS graduates saw their salary rise by 157 percent, with an average salary of US$154,144, among the world's top 10 this year.

CEIBS also made achievements in terms of graduates' placement success, the number of women and international students, and research work, said Lydia Price, the school's MBA director.

Rolf D. Cremer, CEIBS dean and vice president, said that achieving 11th place worldwide was a powerful confirmation of the MBA program's strength at CEIBS.
"The big challenge for CEIBS is clear ... CEIBS must provide thought-leadership for management education worldwide, in the same way that Harvard Business School has done for the past 100 years,'' Cremer said.   www.WhichMBA.net
