INTRODUCTION
The teaching in the university lays emphasis on basic subjects, quality and strict management. And teaching method studies have gained national special or first prizes, reform in teaching is also carried out in depth and some of the projects have gained influence in other provinces. In Hunan University there is a national basic engineering (chemistry) teaching base, College Students’ Oriented Sports Training Center, Exporting Trading Training Center for Mechanical & Motor Products, Training Center for the Bank of China, and an International Computation Test Center. Besides these the university is the test university for quality education of students and national quality education base. In 1998, approved by the Education of Ministry, Hunan University became one of the first few to carry modern distant education in China, which has far-reaching effects in the country.
Hunan University keeps to the tradition of “Patriotic and Pragmatic” to train students to be successful after graduation. The university has proper specialties setup and qualified new freshmen, and strict training and management, thus its graduates gains praise by the employers and who are enrolled in the postgraduate schools in other universities show strong theoretic basis, self-taught abilities, professional skills, and diligence, all praised by the schools and the teachers. Among the Top Ten Excellent Inventors & Industrialists, two of them are the graduates from the University, and there were graduates rewarded first prize in Young Scientist Basic Research Reward and High-Tech Research Application Reward.
